Projects

The projects are gathered in the Project Office coordinating FBERG´s project activities. The Office focuses on various grant schemes, both domestic and foreign, which help the Faculty provide for innovative opportunities for study, teaching and research in the field of raw materials. FBERG's long-term vision and objectives are reached through accomplishing specific scientific, infrastructure and implementation projects. Each implemented project offers us the opportunity to approach the long-term goals of the workplace.

An overview of the results of FBERG in research, development and innovation activity in practice can be obtained from the projects solved so far, which are divided according to focus into the following categories:

• VEGA
  The Scientific Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic and the Slovak Academy of Sciences (VEGA) is an internal grant system for the Department of Education and the SAS, which ensures a mutually coordinated procedure for the selection and evaluation of basic research projects carried out at the workplaces of universities and scientific institutes SAS. It proposes to the Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic and the President of the Slovak Academy of Sciences the amount of subsidy to be provided for the solution of selected new and ongoing scientific projects from institutional funds.

• KEGA
  The Cultural and Educational Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic (KEGA) is an internal grant system aimed at the financial support of applied research projects in the field of education, pedagogy and creative and performing arts, initiated by researchers from public universities or the Ministry of Education of science, research and sports of the Slovak Republic in specified thematic areas from the institutional financial resources of public universities.

• APVV
  The Research and Development Support Agency (APVV) was established in 2005 by Act No. 172/2005 Coll. on the organization of state support for research and development and on the amendment of Act no. 575/2001 Coll. on the organization of government activities and the organization of the central state administration, as amended. The agency is a budgetary organization linked to the budget of the Slovak Republic through a chapter of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic and fulfills the program statement of the government, in which the building of a knowledge society in Slovakia is listed as one of the main priorities.

• Horizont Europe
  Horizon Europe is the 9th EU framework program for research and innovation. In the period from 2021 to 2027, the Horizon Europe program smoothly follows on from the Horizon 2020 program, the largest and most important program to date financing projects in the field of science, research and innovation in the European Union in the program period 2014-2020. For the seven-year period (2021 to 2027), there are funds available in the amount of almost EUR 95.5 billion. The Horizon Europe program is implemented through three main pillars:
  I. Pillar „Excellent science“,
  II. Pillar „Global challenges and competitiveness of European industry“,
  III. Pillar „Innovative Europe“.
  Applications can be submitted based on EC public calls available on the Participants Portal (https://commission.europa.eu/research-and-innovation_en).

• Horizont 2020 / Horizon 2020
  Horizon 2020 integrates the support of research and innovation, emphasizes the support of small and medium-sized enterprises and the solution of major societal challenges. It includes the support of the research and educational program of the EURATOM community in the field of nuclear energy and safety. Horizon 2020 offers the opportunity for Slovak researchers to participate in top European projects based on public calls announced by the European Commission. All Slovak participants can join the Horizon 2020 program, regardless of sector - universities, research organizations, businesses. The European Commission (EC) provides special support to small and medium-sized enterprises. Applications can be submitted based on EC public calls available on the Participants Portal (http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/portal/desktop/en/home.html) and at the same time also on the National portal of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic and the Center for Scientific and Technical Information of the Slovak Republic (CVTI SR) for Horizon 2020  (http://h2020.cvtisr.sk/).

• EUREKA
  EUREKA is a European initiative aimed at supporting research and development projects with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of European industry on a global scale. It was established in 1985, is open to all thematic areas and is focused on the market. The participants in the projects are mainly business entities. The minimum number of participants consists of two entities from two different EUREKA member states, while individual member states have different criteria and procedures for supporting projects. • INTERREG
  INTERREG Europe helps regional and local governments across Europe to develop and implement better policies. The goal of creating an environment and opportunities to share solutions is to ensure that all government investment, innovation and implementation efforts lead to an integrated and sustainable impact on people and place. The program of interregional cooperation is based on the experience of the Community Initiative, which was intended to strengthen the economic and social cohesion of Europe. In the previous period, joint projects were financed, which support cooperation between regional and local authorities from all over the EU leading to the even development of the continent.

• Grants from the European Commission
  The Commission provides direct financial contributions in the form of grants to projects or organizations that support EU interests or participate in the implementation of EU programs or policies. Interested parties may apply by responding to invitations to tender.

• European Institute of Innovation and Technology, EIT
  The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is an EU body created by the European Union in 2008 to strengthen Europe's innovation capacity. The EIT is an integral part of the Horizon 2020 framework program for research and innovation.

• European Research Council, ERC
  The mission of the ERC is to encourage the highest quality research in Europe through competitive funding and to support frontier research aimed at researchers in all fields based on scientific excellence.

• North Atlantic Treaty Organization fund and grants, NATO grants
  Grants for cooperation in research and development projects; they cover project-related costs such as project-related scientific equipment, consumables, computers, software, travel and training of young scientists. Grants to organize high-level courses aimed at imparting the latest developments in a NATO-relevant subject to young scientists at post-doctoral level. Grants that enable professionals in NATO countries to share their security-related expertise with interns from NATO partner countries.

• Visegrad Fund
  The Fund is an international donor organization established in 2000 by the governments of the countries of the Visegrad Group - the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia to support regional cooperation in the Visegrad region (V4), as well as between the V4 region and other countries, especially in the regions of the Western Balkans and the Eastern Partnership. The fund does this by allocating EUR 8 million through grants, scholarships and residencies, which are provided annually with equal contributions from all V4 countries. Other donor countries (Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, the United States) provided an additional €10 million through various grant schemes that the fund has been running since 2012.
